Butter, rum, and spice, all mixed in this festive ice cream
Yuletide winds blow cold in the Nordic lands, but one year was so frigid that it threatened to freeze the Vikings themselves as they were out plundering. Faced with the dishonor of returning empty handed, the Vikings appealed to Ullur, the god of Winter, who appeared to them and promptly challenged anyone who would accept to a duel. A viking named Finnur accepted, and though he could not stand against a god, he fought so well that Ullur revealed that by mixing an exotic alcohol called "rum" with butter, cream, and spices, it created an energy-filled grog that would resist freezing. With renewed strength, the Vikings attacked paris, slaughtered the french, and sailed away with bags of plunder.
That is how Yule was saved.
